BELMONT, MA, Dec. 17, 2024 /PRSearchEngine/ — Laura Lowery, Boston University Faculty Member and Scientist is featuring science-inspired art in a virtual exhibition. The exhibit is titled Art by Academics (And Friends) and features watercolor paintings by academic professionals who also identify as amateur artists. Their creations, however, are anything but amateur and nothing short of inspiring. The virtual art gallery includes watercoloring paintings by Laura Lowery and Mina Nguyen, paintings by Adena Rosenthal and sketches by Chiedza Sibanda. Lowery is currently looking to expand the gallery with new pieces from other faculty members and academics.
Art by Academics (And Friends) is a passion project that was started by Laura Lowery PhD in 2021. Lowery took her first watercolor painting class in 2003 early into her academic career. But it wasn’t until 2021 that she decided to pick up a paintbrush again as a form of stress relief. More than just a creative outlet, watercolor painting became a form of active meditation for Lowery; a way for the Scientist and Motivational Speaker to relax and heal. Since launching her personal gallery of watercolor paintings, Lowery has invited other academic artists to collaborate with her. The result is Art by Academics, which currently features the works of Mina Nguyen, Adena Rosenthal, Chiedza Sibanda and Laura Lowery herself. The virtual exhibition and art gallery is soon to feature incoming works from Beth Bearce. About Laura Lowery Boston University
Laura Lowery PhD is a Scientist, Motivational Speaker and the Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Boston University in the Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Boston Medical Center (Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine). She additionally maintains membership within the Anti-Racism Committee. Throughout her academic career, Lowery has developed various multi-faceted programs in Biomedical Studies, including focuses in Cell Migration, Cytoskeletal Dynamics, Cell Motility, Amazon Guidance and Embryonic Development. In her free time, Lowery creates abstract and repetitive designs in her watercolor paintings. She is the creator of Art by Academics (And Friends), launched in 2021.
