JONESBORO, GA, July 22, 2025 /PRSearchEngine/ – Cornell Madison, Marine Corps veteran and Clayton County Sheriff candidate, has been elected Junior Vice Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6330 in Jonesboro, Georgia. The election marks another significant step in Madison’s long record of service to the veteran community in Clayton County and beyond.

As Junior Vice Commander, Cornell Madison takes on a hands-on leadership role within Post 6330, presiding over meetings in the absence of the Post Commander and Senior Vice Commander, and taking direct responsibility for Post programs and community outreach. It is a position that demands both organizational steadiness and genuine investment in the people the Post serves — qualities Madison has demonstrated throughout a career that spans decades of law enforcement, public service, and civic engagement.

Post 6330, located at 732 Veterans Parkway in Jonesboro, is part of the Veterans of Foreign Wars — the nation’s oldest and largest combat veterans service organization. Founded in 1899 and rooted in the belief that those who serve overseas deserve an organization that fights for them in return, the VFW’s mission is to foster camaraderie among veterans of overseas conflicts and to advocate on behalf of all who have served. From lobbying for VA healthcare access to delivering scholarships and financial assistance programs, the organization has been a driving force behind nearly every major piece of veterans legislation passed over the past century.

For Madison, the role is a natural fit. A United States Marine and honorably discharged veteran, he has spent his post-service life building on the values instilled in uniform — discipline, accountability, and an unshakeable commitment to community. He has served on the Clayton County Planning and Zoning Advisory Board and the Visitors and Tourism Advisory Board, volunteered with the American Red Cross, and championed causes ranging from child water safety advocacy to homeless youth support. His election to the Executive Board of American Legion Post 258 was announced earlier this year.

The Junior Vice Commander election at VFW Post 6330 adds to a growing portfolio of veteran leadership that reflects Madison’s belief that service does not end when the uniform comes off. As a candidate for Clayton County Sheriff in 2028, he is committed to carrying these same values — accountability, professionalism, and care for every member of the community — into the county’s top law enforcement office.
